Since I was a little girl, I always loved to decorate my room and thought it was so fun rearranging it and just finding ways to make it feel new again. As a mom, I still get that same excitement when working with the girls bedroom and I love that the girls also get really into it, sharing their preferences and thoughts with me so we can find ways to incorporate them into their space.
We love the wallpaper we put in here last year and that is definitely staying. Here’s what the space looked like when we first styled it up in here.

We’ve recently been debating on getting the girls a bunkbed, but we had an opportunity to try out a Zinus bed, so we decided to add a larger bed for the girls to share instead and see how it works. We shopped the house to style around the girls new bed and created a sweet and fun boho bedroom. Here was my design board for the room:
So excited to share where we’re at with the girls bedroom today!
The wall paper and chandelier is here to stay. We love it and so glad it works with the boho space.
We painted all the walls a fresh coat of Behr Polar Bear and the ceilings are painted the same as the rest of the house which is Behr Ultra Pure White.
We went with a queen size for the girls bed frame and mattress. Jason and I could totally squeeze in with the girls on this bed when we just wanna snuggle with them or read a book together. We chose a very minimal and simple design with a low headboard which gives us the option of putting the headboard right under the window if the girls ever feel like changing things up. And believe me, these girls are like their mama, they love moving things around.
I did purchase a couple things for their new bed. We already had the sheets, duvet, pillows and throw but wanted to add a quilt that was comfy, warm, and adds a pop of color. This quilt is a heavyweight linen blend in the color dark clay which is so beautiful and from the new Casaluna line at Target.
The throw pillows are from Target and a vintage find.
The rug was swapped from the loft and is perfect in here. It’s one of those rugs that work in so many spaces.
I purchased the gold wall rack and this girl art on a whim when it was on clearance at Target. The wall rack is no longer available but this wall rack is similar and an even better version. So glad I did, cause it really ties the room together and gives the room a sweet moment on this wall.
The little gallery wall is special to me because these are some pieces I collected over the years and used in the girls bedroom through the years. I can still remember the elephant art I thrifted in Napa, back when I dreamt of having a daughter and told myself I would hang this in her room if God were to ever bless us with a girl. And here we are with 2 daughters who I just love being a mama to.
I’m not ready to let go of the swan plush and unicorn plush head wall hangs and I’m glad the girls aren’t there quite yet either. Stay little for a little while longer sweeties!
These cubbies are originally from Ikea but I haven’t seen these sold there in a few years but I did stumble on these similar ones. The other items I bought for this update were these soft cream rope baskets with faux leather handles. They fit perfectly and are easy for the girls to pull in and out.
The girls have had this tall mango wood mirror forever from Homegoods and I don’t think they will ever grow out of it. It has a very boho look to it and I see this style often at Homegoods.
The closet organizer DIY is done!
And then there’s the new closet update and DIY we did that I just shared here with some mdf boards and an old ikea dresser. It’s a lot cheaper than purchasing a closet system and all we need now is a set of bifold type of doors because let’s be real, this closet isn’t always going to look this nice and organized. And there’s still room on top to add more baskets or bins if needed. If you’re curious where all their toys and shoes are, theres 4 flat bins under their bed that holds a bit more, but that’s it.
My sister was so sweet to grab me these bolga baskets from none other than Ross. What?! Okay, they’re not the real deal, but they’re still cute and for $17 for both, how could I say no. You can find some amazing ones here if you want the real deal. These are currently holding extra hangers and some tanks the girls won’t be wearing til summer.
That’s the girl’s new boho bedroom! What do you think? Even with all the pops of color in here, I think it works well with the rest of our house, still having that California casual look with the fun boho flare that I think makes their room a fun space for them.
