Our Thanksgiving tablescape + 2 easy crafts with our new Cricut

home sweet home, tablescape

Happy November! How’s the fall season going for you?! I’m sure we’re all thinking about Thanksgiving and tablescapes, which is just around the corner. Today, I’m sharing our easy Thanksgiving tablescape I put together, with the help of our new Cricut machine, that made it even easier to add simple Thanksgiving touches to our table.

We have pumpkin pie every year, so why not use our new Cricut machine to spice things up and add a “thankful” banner. I just got the Cricut Explore 3 and it has been so fun for the girls and I. We’re looking forward to all the fun crafts we will be making this holiday season!

To make the banner, I simply searched “thanksgiving banner” on Cricut Design Space which is just is a companion app that lets you design and wirelessly cut with Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines. You can create a project from scratch or browse thousands of images and fonts in the Cricut Image Library. It’s so much fun and user friendly!

This awesome Cricut Essentials tool set was so helpful with all our Cricut projects so far. And I love how the Cricut machine has a little built in storage on the left to conveniently keep your most used tools together.

I used my laptop (and iPad) to work on the banner, and used this Cricut Smart Paper sticker cardstock in orange, which works without a cutting mat. I stuck it to off white cardstock paper, and cut around outside edges. Then you can tape or hot glue the banner to skewers, or in my case chopsticks, to elevate it on your Thanksgiving pie.

The Cricut cutting mats are perfect when using regular paper so your paper doesn’t move. We have a lot of scrap book paper with pretty patterns from our scrapbooking days that I think the girls will really enjoy using!

No matter how simple or over the top, pie toppers are so much fun!

I thought it would be fun to have assigned seating for our Thanksgiving table this year. Instead of place cards, I opted to just add tags to a string and tie them around napkins. Originally I planned on just writing everyone’s name, but I loved the idea of using our Cricut to do cut outs on a tag of each name.

It’s a fun way to make the table feel more festive and personal. I wanted it to feel less formal and minimal, so I kept it simple with this modern font called Dear John, which I found on Cricut Design Space. Just like with the banner, I used Cricut Smart Paper sticker cardstock paper, just in white. The white tags against the colorful napkins really pop.

If you wanted to write each name, Cricut does have that option available with the use of their pens. I have my eyes on this Cricut pen set.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving, and maybe even come away today with a little Thanksgiving inspiration!
