Who’s been really enjoying the summer so far? California weather has been so amazing the last few weeks, and we’ve been in our backyard more than ever, but this wasn’t the case a few weeks ago! I can still remember those days and nights with the perfect outdoor weather but of course those flying insects came to crash the party!
Well sure enough, my husband and I really were tired of it and wanted to figure out how to fix this problem and that’s when I stumbled upon a company called Mosquito Curtains, a family owned business, who provided the perfect solution to this problem!

Jason and I had a great talk with the owner Kurt and with using a video conference tool online, and using my picture of a full view of the patio, he was able to show us exactly where we would put the curtain and showed us exactly what dimensions I needed to provide them with so they can create a custom curtain that would be the perfect fit for our patio. The results:
It has been 3 full weeks of having our curtains up, and I will first tell you, there has not been one fly or mosquito since the install and this space has all of a sudden made our home instantly grow by about 200 square feet. I say this because it truly feels like we gained another living space. We are out here most mornings by 8am having breakfast, the kids play lots of board games and read books right here before lunch. Finally, we all seem to find our way back out here by dinner time when it cools down!
We were sent both the black and white curtains to try, and after trying both, I would say the black is my favorite because it’s nearly impossible to stain and the clarity is so much clearer! Installation was really easy and they even provide a video here to make it even easier for you. I also love that they provide a track for the curtain to glide on for easy opening and closing! The magnetic closure is another plus. It’s still easy enough for baby Rae to come in and out and strong enough for a tight closure! Overall, these curtains have changed our view on outdoor living and the function of our home for the better!
The cost:
For reference, our opening in our patio is 14ft X 8ft and the total cost of 1 set of these custom fit curtains with all the hardware came to $374 + shipping. With how much these curtains have benefited our family, being able to enjoy the outdoors all hours of the day, without worrying about the flies, mosquitos, and bees, I’d say that’s a deal!
